Backstory: Lucifer is Hell's current ruler, although the entire place is run by a democratic system. Originally a hero of Heaven, he lead the Edenic War and defeated Samael in 3 short weeks. He spent the time between the Edenic War and Lucifian War running the department of Human-Angelic relations with Jophiel, who he later began to date. After the Grigori Massacre and the Great Flood, Lucifer became more of a political figure, urging reform in God's treatments of mortals. Eventually this lead to the accidental murder of another angel at the hand of one of Lucifer's proponent's, Satan. The archangel Michael used this accidental death as an attempt to kick Lucifer out of Heaven, thus precipitating the Lucifan War. The Lucifian War lasted for 3 years until Lucifer and his followers were expelled from Heaven. Once arriving in Hell, Lucifer and his closest friend, Azrael as well as Sariel joined a conspiracy to usurp the throne of Hell from Samael. They did so and were nearly killed by their fellow conspirators, but they fought off the assailants and Lucifer took control of Hell. He has ruled the place ever since.

He is a natural born leader, and has no problem having people follow him. When he is not working or in Hell, he is much more mellow and easier to get along with, although he has a tendency to snap at people unnecessarily, or become upset over small things. He has a tendency to enjoy practical jokes as well. He currently dates the archangel Jophiel, much to Michael's annoyance.

Most importantly Lucifer is defined by his hope of redemption. In the document known only as The Agreement proposed by the archangel Gabriel, the fallen are allowed a chance to re-enter Heaven if they live well and can pass the standards that humans are held to. Lucifer does almost everything in his life in hope of returning home.
